New year, new books, new covers!
The Near Witch by V.E. Schwab
Victoria Schwab’s first novel is going to be rereleased with a new cover and bonus content in March 2019! As this happens to be one of the few V.E. Schwab books that I haven’t read yet, I’m super excited.
Also, this is an amazing glow-up. Just compare the old cover to the new one:

Aaaand there’s more! Both Barnes & Noble and Forbidden Planet have exclusive editions and they include a new map design and a Q&A from V.E. Schwab!

I’m absolutely in love, guys. As soon as the FP edition was available, I pre-ordered it. And I’m going to buy the regular one too. I can’t help it. I love V.E. Schwab.
King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo
This is one of the most anticipated books of 2019 and I can’t wait to read it. We’ve known the cover for quite some time (and it’s lovely), but it can’t hurt to see it again.
Holy shit, King of Scars comes out this month.
But that’s not why I included this book here, no. This book has a hidden cover under the dust jacket and it is the most gorgeous thing I have ever seen in my life.
Illumicrate also revealed their special edition of King of Scars that is part of the Saints & Scars box.
This edition looks so royal, I can’t even.
Aurora Rising by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman
I haven’t read anything by Jay Kristoff and/or Amie Kaufman expect for Illuminae, and I’ve only read a few pages of that book until I couldn’t take it anymore. So yeah, I’m not really that hyped for this book but the cover is lovely. Maybe I’ll give Kristoff and Kaufman another chance.
The year is 2380, and the graduating cadets of Aurora Academy are being assigned their first missions. Star pupil Tyler Jones is ready to recruit the squad of his dreams, but his own boneheaded heroism sees him stuck with the dregs nobody else in the Academy would touch…
A cocky diplomat with a black belt in sarcasm
A sociopath scientist with a fondness for shooting her bunkmates
A smart-ass techwiz with the galaxy’s biggest chip on his shoulder
An alien warrior with anger management issues
A tomboy pilot who’s totally not into him, in case you were wondering
And Ty’s squad isn’t even his biggest problem—that’d be Aurora Jie-Lin O’Malley, the girl he’s just rescued from interdimensional space. Trapped in cryo-sleep for two centuries, Auri is a girl out of time and out of her depth. But she could be the catalyst that starts a war millions of years in the making, and Tyler’s squad of losers, discipline-cases and misfits might just be the last hope for the entire galaxy.
They’re not the heroes we deserve. They’re just the ones we could find. Nobody panic.
